These terms govern your use of Canopy Families, a service provided by Mackie AI Enterprises Limited (company number 17107639), registered in England & Wales (“we”, “us”, “our”).
By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

2. Who Can Use Canopy Families
Accounts may only be created by adults aged 18 or over who hold parental responsibility or legal guardianship for the children whose profiles they create.
Children do not create their own accounts. All child profiles are created, managed, and owned by a parent or guardian. A child's access to the platform is entirely under adult supervision and control.
By creating a child's profile, you confirm that you hold parental responsibility for that child.
3. What We Provide
Canopy Families is an AI-assisted learning platform designed to help children engage with educational content safely, with meaningful oversight for parents and guardians. The service includes:
- Age-appropriate AI tutoring aligned to the UK national curriculum
- Parent dashboards with visibility over learning activity
- Safeguarding controls and alert systems
- Guidance resources for parents navigating AI with their children
The service is currently in pre-launch. Features described on our website represent our intended offering and may evolve.
4. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials secure and not sharing them
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Ensuring that only the child named in a profile uses that profile
- Notifying us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Canopy Families to:
- Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with safety or safeguarding features
- Create profiles for children for whom you do not hold parental responsibility
- Harvest, scrape, or systematically extract content or data
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
6. Children's Safety
The safety and wellbeing of children using our platform is our primary obligation. We have designed Canopy Families to meet or exceed the requirements of the UK's Age Appropriate Design Code (Children's Code).
If you become aware of any use of our platform that puts a child at risk, please contact us immediately at hello@canopyfamilies.co.uk.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, design, code, and materials on Canopy Families are owned by or licensed to Mackie AI Enterprises Limited. Nothing in these terms grants you any rights to use our branding, trademarks, or proprietary content.
Content your child creates or inputs through the platform remains yours. We do not claim ownership of it and will not use it beyond what is necessary to provide the service.
8. Service Availability
We aim to provide a reliable service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may need to take the service offline for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control.
During the pre-launch and early access phase, the service is provided on a best-efforts basis.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Mackie AI Enterprises Limited shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Changes to These Terms
We will notify registered users by email of any material changes to these terms before they take effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
